Course Overview
The Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying is an introductory qualification designed for learners who want to gain the essential skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the construction industry.
The course combines practical workshop training with classroom-based theoretical learning, helping learners understand not only how to carry out bricklaying tasks but also the principles behind construction methods, safety, and communication on site.
During this qualification, you will gain a range of skills and knowledge including:

Course Information
You will need a minimum GCSE grade 2 in English language and mathematics.
Learners are assessed through:

- Tutor observation
After completing the course, learners can progress to Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, Construction apprenticeships or Entry-level roles in construction.

Malvern
Our Malvern campus is home to one of Heart of Worcestershire College’s Construction departments, providing specialist facilities and practical learning environments for students training in the construction trades.
Located in the heart of Malvern, the campus is easily accessible from across Worcestershire and the surrounding areas. Regular bus services connect Malvern with Worcester, Ledbury, Upton-upon-Severn, Pershore and Hereford, making travel to campus straightforward for students commuting from nearby towns and villages.
Great Malvern and Malvern Link train stations provide rail connections to Worcester, Hereford, Birmingham and further afield. From the stations, the campus can be reached by local bus routes, taxi or a short walk depending on your route.
