At HoW College, we work in partnership with employers across the county to support workforce development, create future talent pipelines, and inspire the next generation. Whether you're looking to upskill existing employees through professional and university-level qualifications, develop staff through apprenticeships, access tailored commercial training, or host T Level industry placements, we offer flexible solutions to help your business grow. We also provide a range of opportunities for employers to engage with our students, including work experience placements, industry talks, mentoring, mock interviews, careers events, and employment projects. By working together, we can help develop skilled, confident individuals while supporting the current and future needs of your organisation.

How can we help you?

Here at HoW College we pride ourselves on offering opportunities for everyone to learn and develop, not just school leavers. Currently working with a number of businesses across the county, we strive to not only provide our students with opportunities but to also help employers develop their current and future workforce.

Upskilling your current workforce:

Upskilling and developing your current workforce is a beneficial way to increase employee productivity and decrease staff turnover. We offer a wide range of professional and university-level courses including accountancy (AAT), marketing (CIM), human resources (CIPD) and management and leadership (ILM/CMI) which can help develop your staff for current or future roles.

Apprenticeships:

Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers; in fact, did you know a number of our apprentices are employees looking to develop their skills and combine their daily jobs with a qualification? With funding available from the Government your business and your staff could benefit from signing up to an apprenticeship programme in one of our many fields.

T Levels:

Technical level (T Level) qualifications follow GCSEs and are a new alternative to A Levels. These 2-year courses include an industry placement for each student and have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work. By taking on a T Level student for an industry placement you’ll not only be developing a student’s knowledge and experience, you could also raise awareness of career pathways, local opportunities and fill future recruitment shortages.

Commercial Courses:

We currently offer a small number of commercial courses that could help your staff with their continual professional development. These short courses are a great way for staff to improve their knowledge and develop new skills to enhance their role and your business. We’re also looking to develop our portfolio to ensure we’re providing responsive and informed services to our stakeholders, so let us know your business needs and we’ll work together to help your goals.

How can you help us?

Evidence shows that young people who experience four or more careers-related activities with employers during their time in education are 86% less likely to be unemployed. Employers, like you, can influence, inform, motivate and inspire our students and help them to learn the skills they need to succeed in the workplace. That’s why we need your help to make a difference to their future careers. We appreciate how busy you are and how much of a commitment it can be to take on a student in your workplace. However, we hope that with our range of opportunities, you may be able to commit in some way to help raise our young people’s aspirations, improve their work-related skills, and raise their awareness of career opportunities across a wide range of sectors.

These opportunities include:

• Work experience/Industry placements – from as little as one week

• Industry Talks and/or industry visits

• Mentoring

• Mock interviews

• Masterclasses and workshops

• Supported internships

• Apprenticeships

• National Careers Week and Careers talks

• Sponsored awards and supporting with competitions

• Employment opportunities, volunteering and volunteer teaching

• Supporting with work/employment related projects

Not only will these opportunities benefit our students by giving them an insight into your industry, but they could also help you to develop your own employee’s individual personal development.
