Adult Learner Support and Careers Guidance
Our Community team works with adults across Worcestershire to support learning, wellbeing and personal development at every stage of life. Community courses are designed to help people build confidence, develop new skills and reconnect with education, employment or social opportunities.
At Heart of Worcestershire College, adult learners are also supported with high-quality careers information, advice and guidance to help them achieve their personal, educational and career goals.
Throughout your studies, you’ll have access to a range of support and employability resources designed to keep you informed, confident and connected to local opportunities.
To improve access to local opportunities and employability resources adult learners receive a bi-monthly ‘Opportunity Newsletter’ as well as CV Development Sessions
The newsletter provides:
- Links to local services, volunteering opportunities, and community support.
- Employability resources including CV guidance and job search tools.
- Contacts and information for wider support networks.
CV Development Sessions are also available where you can:
- Build a new CV
- Edit and refine existing CVs
- Update and structure information appropriately
- Build confidence in the job application process
Adult learners can also book individual appointments with college careers advisors to discuss, explore and prepare for their future aspirations.
Community Courses
We also offer a range of community courses to support a wide range of learners, including those looking to improve their English, Maths or ESOL skills, individuals managing physical health conditions, people caring for family members, and adults with learning disabilities or neurodivergent needs. Many learners also join our courses to stay active, learn something new in retirement, or simply connect with others in their community. By providing welcoming and supportive learning environments, our courses help reduce social isolation and encourage independence, confidence and wellbeing.
Our community courses cover a wide range of interests, including arts and crafts, sewing, cooking, mindfulness, yoga, reiki, flower craft and fitness. We also offer more traditional subjects such as English, Maths and ESOL. These courses can provide a pathway into further study at the college, giving learners the opportunity to progress into accredited programmes.
All courses are taught by experienced lecturers who focus on developing learners’ skills, knowledge and confidence while supporting positive wellbeing and personal growth.
Courses are delivered in local venues across Bromsgrove, Redditch, Worcester and Malvern. We work in partnership with community centres, assisted living venues and sports facilities to ensure learning opportunities are accessible and close to where people live.
