Here at HoW College, inclusion is of utmost importance to us.

One of the most important ways of enhancing inclusion within our community is through continual education. Taking the time to learn about different walks of life, perspectives and current injustices, is at the centre of making real progression towards creating an environment and world that is accepting of all individuals.

We want everyone to feel welcome, included and accepted within our College community, and we strive continuously towards this in various ways.

One of the most important ways of improving EDI within our community is through continual education. Taking the time to learn about different walks of life, perspectives and current injustices, is at the centre of making real progression towards creating an environment – and world – that is accepting of all individuals.

Here’s just some of the EDI campaigns and events at HoW College:
  • February - LGBT+ History Month
  • March - Fearless Females Week and International Women's Day
  • April - Autism Awareness Month
  • May - Mental Health Awareness Week
  • September - World Suicide Prevention Day
  • October - Black History Month and World Mental Health Day
  • November - International Men's Day
Here’s what Christian, a HoW alumni has to say about his experience as a disabled student:

"My name is Christian, I have Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and I am non-verbal. When I started at HoW, I was nervous like anyone would be, but the Specialist Support Staff guided me through everything. The College made me feel so welcome, and that’s because of HoW College’s general ethos to inclusivity. The staff always had a can-do attitude, so nothing was beyond me in terms of requirements for the course. I left HoW College with a BTEC Distinction in Sport, a Grade 4 GCSE in Maths and a Grade 5 GCSE in English. Since leaving college, I have had the confidence and grades to go on to Higher Education and have graduated with a University Degree in Sports Coaching Science with Disability Sport. HoW College was the real starting point for me, and it gave me the confidence to do things that I would never have thought possible when I left school."
