Course Overview

This course will help you to develop your personal, social and in particular your employability skills to help you to make a successful progression into paid work. Our programme will help you to develop range of employability skills including CV writing, completing application forms, Interview skills, Health and Safety at work, Rights and Responsibilities at work and communicating with work colleagues.

Through a variety of innovative and engaging learning processes with a strong emphasis on the world of work you will improve your confidence ready to take up employment.

The Supported Internship course is a 5 day course with 3 days spent in college up until October half term, following that you will spend 3 days with the employer. Your 2 days at college include studying your work skills, the Thrive program and English and Maths.

We will guide you through the application and interview process and help you to identify the types of work you may be interested in. You will also be assigned a job coach if required to help you with travel planning and support in the workplace.

Students will need a pen and notebook. They will need some suitable work clothing appropriate for their chosen workplace.

Course Information

The course is aimed at around Level 1. It is accepted that learners may not have this level in Maths and English qualifications.

You must have a willingness and ability to gain employment.

We welcome referrals from mainstream schools, special schools, other colleges, Social Services, parents or carers. We also welcome self-referral. We will invite you to attend an interview before you begin the course.

Please note Supported Internships are specifically for young people with an EHCP plan.

You will receive an ongoing assessment of your needs, with personal targets set to promote your learning and support progression. You will complete a folder of your work. Your tutor will mark your work and meet with you to give you feedback.

You will have regular visits from the college in your workplace to assess your progress and to address any concerns.

Upon successfully completing this course you will ideally progress into paid employment.

Redditch

Redditch has many links to surrounding towns with a circular around Redditch itself including Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Kings Heath, Evesham, Droitwich, Solihull, Worcester, and Birmingham. The train and bus stations are in close proximity to one another and are a short walk to Peakman Campus and a slightly longer walk to Alliance House.
