Course Overview

This 6-week DIY Bricklaying Course is designed for beginners who want to develop practical bricklaying skills for home improvement projects, personal development, or to explore a potential career in construction. Delivered in a hands-on workshop environment, the course runs over six weekly sessions, allowing learners to build confidence and practical ability step-by-step. No previous experience is required. The course focuses on developing safe working practices, accurate measurement skills, and the ability to construct simple brickwork structures to a good standard.

Course Information

Adults only aged 19+.
Practical Observation Tutor observation of safe working practices and bricklaying technique throughout the course. Skills Demonstration Completion of a small brickwork project to demonstrate learned skills. Informal Knowledge Checks Short discussions and questioning to confirm understanding of safety, materials and methods. There are no formal exams.
After completing this 6-week DIY course, learners may progress to: Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying (accredited qualification) Construction multi-skills courses Home renovation projects with increased confidence Exploring apprenticeship routes in construction This course provides a strong foundation for anyone considering further study in bricklaying.

Malvern

Our Malvern campus is home to one of Heart of Worcestershire College’s Construction departments, providing specialist facilities and practical learning environments for students training in the construction trades.

Located in the heart of Malvern, the campus is easily accessible from across Worcestershire and the surrounding areas. Regular bus services connect Malvern with Worcester, Ledbury, Upton-upon-Severn, Pershore and Hereford, making travel to campus straightforward for students commuting from nearby towns and villages.

Great Malvern and Malvern Link train stations provide rail connections to Worcester, Hereford, Birmingham and further afield. From the stations, the campus can be reached by local bus routes, taxi or a short walk depending on your route.

Malvern is well known for its welcoming community, scenic surroundings and local amenities, offering students a supportive and accessible environment to study and develop their construction skills.
