Look after your wellbeing at every stage of your journey with our College Wellbeing Service.

Our College Wellbeing Service is there for all our students experiencing difficulties or concerns regarding their health, emotional well-being, mental health, accommodation, sexual health and relationships.

We provide a safe space for our students to explore and overcome barriers to learning by offering one to one support where they can build coping strategies and resilience, improve their mental wellbeing and succeed at college.

We have a duty of care to safeguard each and every learner at HoW College, and we aim to not only empower our students but equip them with the skills needed to keep themselves safe and reach their full potential. We provide education, advice and guidance on topics such as bullying, staying safe online, healthy relationships, and recognising potential harm or threat to yourself or others.

As part of this we offer:

  • Induction sessions detailing how to access support
  • THRIVE tutorial sessions on safeguarding subjects
  • Guest speakers
  • Dedicated specialist staff to support you
  • All staff are trained on safeguarding
  • Excellent links to external services

Alongside our sessions, The PREVENT Strategy ensures that safeguards are in place to identify and protect our learners from being drawn into illegal activities associated with extremism, radicalisation and terrorism.

Supporting Families is an integral part of our approach to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing. We actively use the Early Help Assessment Tool (EHAT) to identify needs at the earliest opportunity and to coordinate support for our students and their families. By working closely with families and partner agencies, we aim to provide timely, effective support before difficulties escalate.
