Course Overview

This qualification is at Level 4 and is appropriate for individuals who are interested in taking on the role of an internal quality assurer or internal verifier as well as for staff.

This qualification includes a unit that covers all the essential knowledge and understanding that quality assurance staff need and a unit that describes competent practice. The qualification will give people who carry out a quality assurance
role the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as the opportunity of achieving a professional qualification already in this role.

The aims of this of this qualification is to enable learners to:

- Develop an understanding of the principles and practices of internal quality assurance assess performance in assuring the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.
- Achieve a professional qualification for the knowledge, understanding and skills developed.

The staff delivering on the teacher education programmes have come from a range of different vocations providing learners with a wealth of experience of teaching and assessing academic, business and vocational subjects. All staff on the programme have a recognised teaching qualification in addition to qualifications in their subject specialism.

Course Information

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. 

The duration of the course is six months and will be delivered through two classroom sessions with the remainder of the delivery online, following a blended format.

The course will be assessed by a portfolio. The trainee Assessor will have two observations of their assessing.

On successful completion of this course, students can progress onto the Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
