Course Overview
The VTCT Skills Level 2 Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing is designed to build strong, industry‑ready practical skills in the core areas of women’s hairdressing. Throughout the course, you will develop confidence in the creative techniques of cutting and dressing hair, learn how to carry out effective shampooing and conditioning services, and provide thorough client consultations to ensure safe and personalised results.
Kits will be supplied by the college and kept on campus for use during all practical sessions. If you prefer to have your own personal kit to take home and practise with, optional kit packages will be available for you to purchase.

4 GCSE grade 3 and above (including Maths & English) and a successful interview.
This course is only for learners ages 19+.
Assessment for the Level 2 Women’s Hairdressing qualification is carried out through a mix of practical observations, written tasks, and online or paper-based tests. Learners are observed performing a range of hairdressing services, such as cutting, colouring, styling, and consultation within a realistic salon environment to demonstrate technical ability, professionalism, and safe working practices. Theory knowledge is assessed through assignments, and exams covering areas such as hair science, health and safety, colouring principles, and client care.
At the end of the qualification, you can further develop your knowledge and skills by undertaking a level 3 qualification in hairdressing which is equivalent to A levels.
